Fall Classes and Shows!

(Aladdin production campers strike a pose)

Registration is open for our 2016-2017 classes and productions!

Classes in Acting, Improv, Musical Theatre, Voice, Dance, and Directing start in mid-August for ages 4-18!  Your child can boost his confidence and self-control, learn new performance skills, make new friends, and shine onstage in our program this year!

New this year: our Directing a One-Act Play class will offer something for all of our students.  Teen students will learn about directing technique in the fall, and put their training to use in the spring when they each cast & direct a one-act play.  Elementary and middle school students can audition in the spring to perform in the student-directed one-acts, with the performances scheduled for May 2017.

Our Songs & Scenes class for ages 4-6 is the perfect opportunity for our youngest performers to get some stage time!  Acting, Creative Dramatics, and Musical Theatre will be incorporated into the class activities, plus warm-ups, games, and other creative exercises.  It'll be offered weekday afternoons and on the weekends so families can join the class that is convenient for them!

Our Theatre Skills classes (Elementary, Intermediate I and Intermediate II levels) will encompass Acting, Improvisation, Musical Theatre, and Voice throughout the year to ensure our students are developing their performance technique in all of the theatre disciplines to become well-rounded performers and public speakers!  Weekly classes will include physical and vocal warm-ups, games, instruction in the various theatre disciplines, and rehearsal of performance pieces.

Visit our website for all the details!

Our first ever Family Show:
We are excited to add a new element to our program: a production featuring students AND parents and grandparents!  We'll be producing "A Seussified Christmas Carol" this fall!  Imagine the familiar story of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, in the rhyming non-sensical style of a Dr Seuss story.  Imagine whimsical characters, visually wacky and unusual costumes and props, and a cast comprised of actors ages 4-94!  Any student enrolled in a fall class can participate with an adult family member!

Audition to be in our Performance Troupes:
New this year: participation in our performance troupes, the Young Actors Ensemble and the Forefront Arts Teen Ensemble (FATE) is invitation only, based on an audition. Students in 2nd-12th grade must join one of our troupes to perform in our full-scale productions this season. Auditions will be scheduled in 15-minute increments and consist of each student singing 32 bars of a musical theatre song with an instrumental track, reading scenes from several scripts, and a brief interview with the student and parents.

The audition is a formality to meet each new student and make sure each student and family understand the commitment they are making before they enroll in one of our troupes.  The Young Actors Ensemble and the Forefront Arts Teen Ensemble are for our most talented and serious students and we are looking forward to putting on some amazing productions this year!

Register for a class at the location of your choice and on the registration form select an audition date. We will contact you with your scheduled time slot.

Our 2016-2017 Season:

Festival Performance ~ September 2016
YAE and FATE members have been invited to perform excerpts of their shows at the Lilburn International Festival.

"A Seussified Christmas Carol" ~ Dec. 2016
Students, Parents & Grandparents can join in the fun with our first ever Family Show!  This is the familiar story of Ebenezer Scrooge, as if Dr Seuss had written it.  Expect funny rhymes, crazy costumes, and colorful characters for our all-ages cast!  Rehearsals will be once/week August - December.

TBD Play by the Teen Ensemble ~ March 2017
7th-12th grade students will produce a show under the direction of Artistic Director, Elizabeth Blakemore. The show will be chosen based on the students accepted into this advanced-level troupe.   Throughout the year we'll analyze the script, research the playwright, the play's setting and time period, create a production book, and rehearse the show.   Rehearsals will be once/week August - May.

"Alice in Wonderland" ~ Spring 2017
Our Young Actors Ensemble comprised of 2nd-12th grade students will perform in this spectacular musical!  Follow Alice down the rabbit hole as she encounters memorable characters such as the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, and many more! Rehearsals will be once/week August - May.

FATE and YAE Family Banquet ~ end of season 2017
A formal event for our YAE & FATE members and their families celebrating the season and featuring their favorite solo and group performances!

New Education Director

We are thrilled to announce that our Lead Teaching Artist, Mandi Lee, has been promoted to the new position of Forefront Arts Education Director! "Miss Mandi" has been an integral part of our team for 3 years as the primary director of our summer camp productions, director or choreographer of many Children's Theatre casts, and the playwright of our camp and Showcase scripts.

As Education Director Mandi will continue to teach and direct, as well as oversee our teaching staff and assist Miss Elizabeth with all the administrative details that keeps Forefront Arts chugging along.  She is quickly becoming well-versed in Elizabeth's admin world of schedules, spreadsheets, phone calls, and emails, and the 2 of them are well on their way to planning the Summer 2016 schedule as well -- camp shows will be announced in January!

We hope to see your family in a class, production, or workshop in the spring!
As always, thank you for supporting young people and the arts!
